Hospitality work we have done
Our commercial references are hotels: Hilton, Holiday Inn, Marriott Pyramid North, Homewood Suites, and Markana Uptown. That is deliberate. Hotel renovation is the hardest version of countertop work. A brand standard specifies the material, the edge, and the dimensions down to the faucet hole spacing. Every room has to match the room next to it. The install window is a floor at a time, on a schedule written by someone else, with guests on the floors above and below. A fabricator who can do that reliably can do anything a kitchen remodel asks.
What we fabricate for commercial clients
- Hotel vanity tops in quartz or granite, with undermount sinks set in the shop, in matched runs of twenty to two hundred.
- Reception and transaction counters with mitered waterfall ends, ADA-height sections, and solid-surface or stone tops.
- Break rooms, bars, and buffet runs for offices, restaurants, and hotel lobbies.
- Restroom vanities and partitions tops for clinics, offices, and retail.
- Cabinetry packages for multi-family units, model homes, and clubhouses, built to one spec and delivered in sequence.
- Replacement and repair of damaged tops in occupied properties, scheduled around operations.
Why a local fabricator beats a distributor on commercial
A distributor sends a drawing to a shop three states away and hopes. We template every unit ourselves, cut it on our own CNC at 2369 Old Hwy 66 in Edgewood, and have the crew that cut it install it. If room 214 is a half-inch different from room 212, we know before the stone is cut, not after it arrives. If a top is damaged on site, the replacement comes from the same slab lot and the same shop, usually within days.
That same control is why our residential customers in Albuquerque and Santa Fe get seams that line up. There is no second company in the chain.
Materials for commercial specifications
Quartz dominates hospitality and office work: non-porous, consistent color across a large order, and no sealing schedule for housekeeping to forget. Granite remains the choice for lobbies and exterior-adjacent bars with direct sun. Quartzite and marble appear in high-end lobby and restaurant work where the budget allows and the look matters. We can source to a brand standard or propose an equivalent with a sample for approval.
Working with general contractors and property managers
Send us the scope and the schedule. We return a unit price and a lead time, provide a sample before the order, stage fabricated units ahead of the install window, and install floor by floor or phase by phase. Change orders are priced the same day. One contact, Jesus, from bid to punch list.
Property managers with an occupied building get the same approach scaled down: a damaged vanity top or a worn break-room counter replaced in a single scheduled visit with minimal disruption.
Choosing a countertop material in central New Mexico
Most people arrive with a material already in mind. We will fabricate whatever you choose, but we are also going to tell you where each one struggles, because the climate here is not neutral. Big south- and west-facing windows are common here, and high-altitude UV is harder on resin binders than it is on natural stone. Water across the metro runs hard, which spots dark polished surfaces and argues for keeping natural stone properly sealed.
- Granite — $55–$95 per sq ft installed. Igneous stone, every slab unique, indifferent to heat and sun. Needs sealing every one to three years. The default recommendation for sunrooms, outdoor bars, and anyone who cooks hard.
- Quartz — $65–$120 per sq ft installed. Engineered, non-porous, never sealed, consistent from sample to slab. The default for busy family kitchens and for anyone who will not think about maintenance. Keep it out of direct all-day sun.
- Marble — $75–$150 per sq ft installed. The most beautiful stone we cut and the softest. Perfect for vanities, fireplace surrounds, and a baking station. Etches from acids in a working kitchen, and we will say so.
- Quartzite — $85–$160 per sq ft installed. Natural stone that reads like marble and wears like granite. The answer when someone wants a white veined top in a kitchen that actually gets used.
Every one of those is templated, cut, and polished in our shop at 2369 Old Hwy 66, Edgewood, NM 87015, which is why we can hold a seam tight and keep an overhang even. You can see the full breakdown on our pricing guide.
How we build cabinets
Custom does not mean expensive for its own sake. It means the box is built to the wall you actually have, in the increment you actually need, rather than the closest three-inch stock size plus a filler strip. In a region where very few walls are square and ceiling heights change room to room, that is usually the difference between a kitchen that looks fitted and one that looks installed.
- Boxes. Three-quarter-inch plywood, not particleboard. Particleboard that has met water once — a slow dishwasher leak, a sink trap drip — swells and never recovers. Plywood survives it.
- Doors and drawer fronts. Shaker, flat-slab, raised panel, or inset. Paint-grade maple or poplar, stain-grade alder, hickory, oak, or walnut. Knotty alder is the regional favorite for a reason: it takes a warm stain and hides the dings of a real household.
- Hardware. Soft-close hinges and full-extension undermount drawer slides as standard. Not an upgrade.
- Finish. Sprayed in the shop, not brushed on site. Conversion varnish over stain, or a catalyzed enamel over paint. It is the difference between a finish that holds up to fifteen years of hands and one that chips at the pulls in two.
- Layout. Drawers where you reach down, doors where you reach up. Pull-outs for trash and spices. A pantry that uses the full height of the wall. This is the part that makes a kitchen work, and it is the part a catalog cannot do.
Typical installed pricing runs $350–$900 per linear ft installed depending on wood species, door style, and how much of the run is drawers. Full details on custom cabinets →
Why hiring one shop for cabinets and countertops matters in New Mexico
Most remodels in New Mexico involve two companies who have never met: one sets cabinets, another fabricates stone. When the countertop does not sit flat, each explains why it is the other’s fault, and you are left holding a gap, a tube of caulk, and two phone numbers.
We run both sides under one roof. Cabinets are set and leveled by our crew, then the countertop is templated against those cabinets, cut in the same building, and installed by the same people. If something is off, it is ours, and there is nobody to point at. That is not a slogan. It is the reason the business is structured this way, and it is the reason the seams line up.
It also has a practical scheduling benefit. One contractor means one calendar, so cabinets and tops land in sequence instead of leaving your kitchen torn out for a week while a second company finds an opening.
How a project runs with us
- Call or send the form. Jesus answers, asks what you are trying to do, and books a time to come measure.
- On-site measurement and a straight conversation. We look at the room, the plumbing, the walls, and how you cook. If a material is wrong for your situation, this is where we say so.
- One written number. Template, fabrication, tear-out, install, haul-away, sealing. No per-item surprises after the fact.
- Slab or sample approval. For natural stone you see the actual slab and where the cuts land. For cabinets you approve a door sample and a finish chip.
- Fabrication in Edgewood. Cabinets built and finished in the shop. Countertops laser-templated once the cabinets are set and level, then cut on the CNC and polished.
- Install by the same crew. The people who measured are the people who build and the people who install. One point of contact from first visit to final walkthrough.
Countertop-only projects typically run one to two weeks from template to install. Full cabinet packages run four to eight weeks depending on wood and finish. A complete kitchen remodel is usually six to ten weeks once materials are approved.
Typical installed pricing
| Service | Typical range | Unit |
|---|---|---|
| Quartz countertops | $65 – $120 | sq ft installed |
| Granite countertops | $55 – $95 | sq ft installed |
| Custom cabinets | $350 – $900 | linear ft installed |
Ranges include template, fabrication, standard edge, tear-out of existing tops, install, and sealing where applicable. Exotic slabs, waterfall edges, full-height backsplashes, and structural changes move a project toward the top of the range. Every job is quoted individually after an on-site measurement. Commercial & Hospitality Questions
Which hospitality brands have you worked with?
Our commercial work includes Hilton, Holiday Inn, Marriott Pyramid North, Homewood Suites, and Markana Uptown. Hotel renovations are repetitive, schedule-driven work: dozens of identical vanity tops that have to match and land on the day the GC says. That is a different discipline from a single kitchen, and we have it.
Can you handle a multi-unit or phased schedule?
Yes. Because we fabricate in our own Edgewood shop we can run a full floor of vanity tops ahead of the install window and stage them, then install floor by floor as rooms turn over. We work with the general contractor’s schedule rather than around it.
Do you do reception desks and break rooms?
Reception counters, transaction tops, break room runs, conference credenzas, and restroom vanities for offices, clinics, and restaurants. Quartz is the usual specification for commercial because it is non-porous and consistent across a large order.
Are you licensed and insured for commercial work?
JYJ FLIPS LLC is a registered New Mexico limited liability company.
How do I get a commercial bid?
Send plans or a scope to [email protected] or call (505) 203-5508. We will return a per-unit or per-linear-foot price with a lead time. For hotel work we can also provide a sample top in the specified material before the order is placed.
